Story

Hi. I'm Fiona and have been working for the NHS for almost 24 years. In October this year I'm trekking Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Palliative Care services at University Hospitals Dorset. Mount Kilimanjaro, at 5895 metres, is one of the highest volcanoes in the world and the highest free standing mountain.I will be trekking the Machame Route which is rated as one of the more challenging - a total distance of 90km over 6 days. The route will take me through rainforests and alpine desert, heath, moorland and up steep, rocky terrain.

I am raising money for Palliative Care Services as having unfortunately lost family members to cancer I am deeply aware of the importance and emotional benefits of patients receiving specialist end of life care. Palliative care supports people who have terminal illnesses and also their families and loved ones, aiming to minimise suffering and to improve the quality of a patients life as they approach death.

Please help me support this valuable service with a donation. As I am fully funding the expedition myself, you can be assured that 100% of your donation will go directly to the charity and to my chosen service.
