I am walking the Edinburgh Kiltwalk - Mighty Stride with my daughter, Mhairi, in aid of Carers Link East Dunbartonshire. Carers Link provides information and support to unpaid carers who live in East Dunbartonshire or care for someone who lives in East Dunbartonshire. We care for 2 disabled people in our family. My son has complex additional support needs and requires 24hr care. My husband is physically disabled and needs support with various aspects of his daily life. Carers Link have provided a lot of support to our family which has included young carer support and activities, monthly carers cafe, telephone support etc. I was diagnosed with cancer in October 2023 and have been receiving chemotherapy this year, so this walk is my first big challenge. Knowing that we are able to get support from Carers Link during this difficult period was an enormous help because our caring role didn't stop. Having cancer made the caring role more difficult.
