Story
The Great Wall of China has been voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Stretching for 6,000km, it zig-zags its way across China, snaking across mountains and through valleys.
I will spend five tough days trekking along this magnificent manmade structure. Over 35km I will pass through watch towers and mountains, historic battlement stations that are well off the tourist trail.
For those of you that know me you know that doing any sort of exercise is weird for me so hopefully that shows how much LOROS means to me!!
The trekking on this challenge is hard due to the number of steps up and down each day – it can sometimes take an hour just to trek 1km! Another highlight will be conquering the 1,000 steps up to the wall at Mutianyu – culminating with the ascent of the ‘Heavenly Ladder’. It will be immense but hopefully the thought of tobogganing back down will spur us on for the climb.
Please dig deep and support my fundraising efforts to help care for terminally patients and their families in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
