Story
Hi, my name is Fifi and I am running a half marathon in Sierra Leone this May for the charity Street Child! I will be taking on this challenge with my Dad and I would love if you were able to help me support Street Child!
Street Child work with local organisations to ensure every child has access to an education. They aim to see all children safe, in school and learning- especially in low resource environments and emergencies. They work across 22 different countries in some of the most marginalised populations.
I have always been passionate that every child deserves equal access to education and I want to take any opportunity to contribute to this. For those who know me, you will know that I have always cared strongly about social justice, and the idea that 250 million children are out of school worldwide angers me and drives me to train for this half-marathon, as tricky as it may feel! I look forward to seeing the impact Street Child have had so far on children and communities in Sierra Leone and to get a better idea and perspective of the vast amount that still needs to be done. I recognise how fortunate I am with my access to education and resources and how easy it is to take that for granted and want to contribute to helping those who don’t have the same opportunities, but I need your help to do so!
I have already pushed myself outside of my comfort zone through the training and I am looking forward to pushing myself further through visiting a new part of the world that I have not yet been to and facing the gruelling challenge of the humidity and weather conditions! Running doesn’t come easy to me and fitting training into the busyness of life has been a challenge! But I am in the process of building my fitness up, as previously I couldn’t run over 5k! I couldn’t ask for a better goal to work towards and I am so excited to see my personal development through the training and the trip alongside supporting the work Street Child do.
Any donation makes a difference and will go directly to Street Child and I am forever grateful for the support for both me and the cause. To reach my target of £1000 would make an incredible impact on those who need it most, so I would really appreciate it if you would be able to donate any amount you feel able! £100 could send a child to school for a whole year, an opportunity that would make the world of difference to their life - providing them with the learning and safety that school provides. Thank you so much for your support!
