Story
Finchley Progressive Synagogue has been so important to our family since we joined 6 years ago. As a mixed faith family we have been welcomed with open arms and we love how giving and generous the whole community is. This is why we are walking 40,000 steps to raise money to finish the major building works at the Synagogue.
The Synagogue building itself is not only a home for our community, but also for many others. We offer weekly after-school drop-in sessions for the children of asylum seekers living in nearby Home Office supported hotels. We host the Rainbow Lunch Club, an LGBTQ+ lunch for asylum seekers and refugees. We are proud to partner with Homeless Action Barnet, the Yaran Women's Club for Afghani and Farsi-speaking women, the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme, Hendon School and the Somali Bravames Welfare Association among others.
We will be walking from the East End of London home to Finchley on the evening and night of Saturday 26th April - a distance of approximately 18 miles. Any support you can give us will be gratefully received.
