Story
Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) is dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals.
When Isla was 9 days old we got a phone call from the endocrine clinic at Addenbrooke’s hospital to say the heel prick test had picked up that Isla has congenital hypothyroidism. We had to go the next morning to meet the consultant and for Isla to have a tyroid uptake scan and other tests. It was a very scary time for Matt and I but the consultant and nurses were and have been since so reassuring and kind. Isla will be on levothyroxine for life and have to have regular blood tests and checks. Isla absolutely loves going to Addenbrooke’s for her appointments which is testament to the nurses, she even enjoys having blood tests! ACT are currently fund raising for a children’s hospital at the Addenbrooke’s site which is much needed for the area. So please give what you can.
