My name is Felix. I was born with a cleft lip and gum. I was lucky enough to get the operations I needed. I am going to try to complete the Moor To Sea Cycle Sportive, which is 63km....double my furthest bike ride ever so far!! Even though the operation was very unpleasant, it was necessary. But I was lucky to be able to get this treatment so easily in the UK. My surgeon, Miss Timoney is involved with this amazing charity Facing The World, which helps children in Vietnam who need operations like I did by training local doctors and provide equipment.

The occurrence of severe facial birth defects is by some estimates 10 times higher in Vietnam than in neighbouring countries. Many believe this to be the result of the effects of the dioxins in Agent Orange which are thought to have caused a mutation in the genetic make-up.

Facing the World works to enable life-changing surgery for those affected by training local doctors to deliver this life changing treatment.
