Story
Oh hi,
I'll be running (and sometimes carrying a kid with Down's) 210km through Jan, Feb and March to raise funds and awareness for the Down's Syndrome Association in time for World Down's Syndrome day on 21/03 (21 as Down's is caused by a duplicated copy of the 21st chromosome)
The DSA support families who've just been lucky enough to have someone with Down's join their family. They also support individuals with Down's in getting the care they need and helping them get work and employment opportunities.
When Caspar (my younger brother who has Down's) was born we were told all the awful, potential downsides (no pun intended...) to expect, but there was no mention of the amazing impact he's had in his 24 years so far.
Charities like the Down's Syndrome Association are fantastic at helping raise awareness and remind us all that individuals with Down's are the best people you'll ever meet.
