Story
Jane Brinkley was a dedicated volunteer for Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS), a non-profit organization providing outreach, advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence and their partners, families and friends throughout Eugene-Springfield and the rest of Lane County, Oregon.
Jane taught consent-based sex education programs for SASS at local Middle and High Schools, she helped to design programs to reduce sexual violence in the lives of teenage girls, and she was youngest crisis line respondent that SASS ever had.
Since Jane’s passing on February 27, 2022, SASS has sought and secured funding for a program dedicated to actioning the vision Jane created to support girls in our community: The organization has two new full-time staff positions dedicated to preventing sexual assault in area Middle and High Schools. This new program – designed by Jane — follows in her footsteps to support SASS’s vital work. The positions were her idea, something she saw as a need as she moved through her education.
Your gift in memory of Jane will support the SASS mission to provide services to survivors of past and present sexual violence and to change societal conditions that allow oppression, especially sexual violence, to exist. SASS creates social change by supporting survivors, and through prevention education, community collaboration, organizing, and outreach.
Thank you for helping us to honor and remember Jane.
