Faye Grace's #RunningStitch campaign for Sew Positive

Cambridge Half Marathon 2025 · 9 March 2025 ·
I was a previous volunteer 'bee' for Sew Positive back where it all began, making face masks to raise money for NHS Charities. This fantastic charity has grown so much over the last few years creating opportunities for people to be creative to support their mental health, when they may otherwise struggle to get the chance. I didnt have to think twice about volunteering again to raise money for them. What I have been thinking twice about is whether I'm actually capable of running a half marathon, having never done more than a 10km many years ago when I was much younger, fitter, and child free. However, I've always done better at training with a goal in mind, so lets give this a go! Any support would be gratefully received!
This campaign is for runners, walkers and racers to fundraise for community sewing groups to support people facing isolation or mental health difficulties around Cambridge.
We provide free workshops for participants including drop-in groups to give skills, aspiration, support and fun while sewcialising, and stitching our communities together.
Ukraine Refugee Antonina, took part in a course saying “I sincerely thank your entire team, because, in fact, I got a lot of pleasure from the Jacobean embroidery process itself, getting to know the technique. And what is more important, it was interesting to meet new people, to communicate in English, which I study in the Regional College, because "People need people"! With your projects, you are doing a great job of improving the mental health, self, and psycho-emotional state of us Ukrainians , who were forced to leave their homes with the war and adapt to life in a new country. I bow to you for your sincerity, kindness and understanding!"
