We support people with Spinal Cord Injury to help them live full, independent lives

Story

I am Adam Simcox, 42 from Thame in Oxfordshire and I suffer from a long-term spinal disability.

In July 2024 I am taking on the English Channel to raise money for Aspire, a charity supporting people with spinal injuries.

-------------------------------

Having been diagnosed with disk degeneration, retrolisthesis, spondylolisthesis and a spinal fracture some years ago, Adam has undergone various operations including a double spinal fusion in 2022 and numerous attempts at denervation; none of which have helped, and he is left in continuous chronic pain.

Adam was registered as disabled in 2021.

Living with complex chronic pain takes a serious toll on your mental health and well-being, leading to other health conditions such as depression and weight gain.

Having been a keen runner in his younger years Adam has completed 2 marathons, however, his dream of running again has now been set aside for a new task. In an attempt to support his battle with his pain, mental health and fitness, Adam is taking on a humongous challenge and joining a relay team to swim the English Channel in support of the amazing charity, Aspire.

Adam does daily hydrotherapy & swimming as part of his ongoing treatment plan and after realising the water is a place that offers him some release and freedom from his pain, has decided to give it a whole new purpose.

Adam and his family would be so grateful for any support you can give towards this incredible feat.
