update 25/11/2023
As most of you are aware Simon lost his battle with cancer on 28/10/2023. Last night in his honour we attended the Balls to Cancer Christmas Ball where we were told that thanks to him, the caravans got to stay open this year. His dream came true, he did it. He started wanting to raise £1000 for them, but ended up with £12k.
Now as his family we have to keep this going. Our efforts cannot stop here. We know you have given so much but please in his name share the post. Let’s see how much we can do.
RIP my angel. You are my soulmate for eternity.
All my love always.
Amy
update from Simon’s Instagram post!
Well not what I was hoping for, but unfortunately the cancer has spread, meaning I have to go back into treatment in the vain attempt to halt it’s growth. You have all been so supportive of me and my family and for that I thank you all so much, but we need more help to not only spread the word but raise as much money as we can for our charity so please spread our pages as much as possible it may be to late for me but we can make a difference to families in the future. Love to all and thank you xxxxx
It seemed fitting to mark the one year anniversary of the start of Simon’s Chemo with our fund raising challenge. In honour of Simon’s journey so far, and his birthday, we have decide to complete a family triathlon in June! As most of you are aware Simon was diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma and secondary lung cancer on Friday 13th May 2022. It has been the hardest year ever for us with Simon having six weeks of intensive chemo where he had to be in hospital for three days at a time, 30 rounds of radiotherapy, 2 battles with sepsis and numerous throat infections along the way. However he very rarely moans and tries his best to keep going for all of his family through all his pain and battles. Along this journey Simon has been able to receive some support from a small charity called ‘Balls to Cancer’. Not only did they provide him with a chemo support pack, full of things he didn’t know he would need along his journey, but came in really useful. But recently he was one of the last people to be given a free family holiday to Burnham on sea. Where we were able to go and just be us again. However this small charity is not able to do this at present as they need to raise £20000 just to continue the holidays this year. To support this we are going to be taking on this challenge as a family. We completely understand that money is tight for everyone, and we hope you never need the services of a charity like this, if you could possibly spare a few pound in supporting us that would be amazing. Between us we are going to be swimming, running and cycling across the month of June to get the furthest distance we possibly can. If you feel like you could do one, two or all of these things as well and want to add to our total that would also be amazing. We will update our journey as we go. Please look at our go fund me page and give anything you possibly can for this amazing cause. Thank you all! Simon, Amy & family x
