Northampton to Swineshead walk

Sitting here today reflecting on why I am taking on this challenge, all I can hear is my Grandpa Colin saying “Why walk when you can drive?” or “Well done duck, keep going! I’d like to join you, but I’ll drive alongside” and my Uncle Mike saying “You’re only walking to Swineshead?!” or in his natural Queen’s Scout way, offering to grab his day sack and pop on his walking boots to join me for the challenge. Two very different gentlemen whom I love and miss dearly. This walk is in memory of them.
I will be visiting my Grandpa’s shop ‘Colin Luesby Interiors’ which lies in the small Lincolnshire village of Swineshead. The shop and village hold many fond memories for my family and is a place I will cherish forever. Driving to Swineshead seems too civilised, so in true Uncle Mike style I’m going to be putting on my all weather walking gear, lacing up my walking boots and walking the 84 miles to Grandpa’s shop.
As previously mentioned, I will be walking in memory of my Grandpa Colin and Uncle Mike who both lived with dementia in their later years, and for my Grandma Greta who is still living with dementia and for all my family and friends who may be affected. This is a charity walk and all funds will be donated to Dementia UK, a specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family, working towards a day where no one has to face dementia alone. The specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing advice and support, to anyone affected by dementia, whenever it is needed.
Please feel free to donate as much or as little as you wish, your support and encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
I hope to do my Grandpa Colin, Grandma Greta and Uncle Mike proud!
