Story

SHORT STORY: I'm raising £50k for 500 miles walking. And I'm going for it. Give us your dosh! I've got contingency in the unlikely case my limbs give out or covid strikes.

NB! The Lighthouse Club is NOT the same as Lighthouse International Group or Lighthouse Global!

FULLER STORY: I'm the Lead Chaplain at the Hinkley Point C Construction site (the largest in Europe). I am constantly referring individuals to the Construction Industry Helpline/Lighthouse Club for support of all kinds- and these folks are total legends! Really! Counselling, family advice, financial advice, trauma help, crisis help, mental health help. The lot! No one in the Construction Industry need feel alone or without help and I want to raise £50k to enable the Lighthouse Club to help more. So - COUGH UP! I'm walking 500 miles for £50k. Be the wind under my wings!

I will be walking the 500 miles of the Camino pilgrimage March 23rd to April 28th 2024 (again)- for my own benefit (need to stay close to God in my line!) and the benefit of all the wonderful, hard-working, people in UK construction. You can follow me on Facebook and HPC's Team Hinkley C app and I'll be doing a daily spiritual blog. More info to follow:

Contingency plans!: I walked the Camino five years ago and I was one of the very few with no injuries, blisters or being eaten by bedbugs! I've had a skiing hamstring injury since then. Successive days of walking all terrains and three small mountain ranges like this are no joke. If the worst comes to the worst, or I get covid in a hostel, I'll hire a bike and cycle from where I am- but this will only be a last resort and I don't anticipate doing it!

NB- Just giving add a charge on your gift, but you can edit and reduce it to whatever you want. You don't have to accept their suggested charge!

Here's their own info about my benefitting charity: The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity (& Construction Industry Helpline) is dedicated to the emotional, physical & financial wellbeing of construction workers & their families. We provide a range of free pro-active resources to support the industry. Our free & confidential 24/7 Helpline & text HARDHAT service offers a range of information, guidance & support. These services are complemented by our free Self Support App. We receive no public funding so rely on the industry to 'support their own'. Every penny raised helps make a difference to a construction worker in need
