Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Me and three other people will be taking part in a 24 hour cycling challenge at RAF High Wycombe. This will be done over Jan 20th - 21st, and there will always be at least one person cycling at a given time.
The aim of this challenge is to raise money for the John Thornton's Young Achievers Foundation, an incredible charity that honours the life of Royal Marine John Thornton, who was tragically killed in conflict, aged 22. JTYAF was set up by John Thornton's parents, and aims to support young people in their ambitions and plans for the future by provide bursaries and opportunities to those that work hard to deserve it.
As I'm sure some of you may know, this year I am a student on the Air Cadet's Junior Leader's Course, a course that is supported by JTYAF, and so a fundraiser is our way of giving back to the foundation. John Thornton himself was a student on the course 2004, and he was awarded 'Top Student' for his dedication and excellence on the course, as well as his leadership ability, which gave him functional skills that he utilised during his time as a Royal Marine.
This challenge will take a lot of strength, both mental and physical, and reflects just a fraction of the effort that John Thornton, and every single person who gives their life for the benefit of others, put into their everyday life.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated, and I cannot thank you enough for your support for this challenge. If you find the time, I encourage you to research JTYAF more, as it is truly an incredible foundation that has changed lives. During the challenge, I will be active on my squadrons instagram, (@332squadronrafac), so please check it out!
Thank you again.
