Story
WellChild Childrens Nurses provide essential care and practical support to children and young people requiring long-term or complex care. They play a crucial role in enabling children to leave hospital and be cared for at home, reducing the practical, emotional and financial impact for families.
WellChild is also committed to funding high quality, innovative projects designed to have a positive impact for seriously ill children both now and in the future. This includes WellChilds Helping Hands programme which continues to go from strength to strength, working with volunteers from companies and organisations across the country to tackle essential projects in the homes of children with serious illness. Those volunteers provide the manpower and enthusiasm for projects such as bedroom and garden makeovers.
This charity has supported me whilst grieving for my dad whom we lost towards the end of last year, I originally planned to do this in 2024 but my dad’s passing left me unable to focus let alone train, at times not even being able to leave the house, grief can be suffocating. This wonderful charity completely understood & were so lovely with me, they very kindly deferred my place. 6 months on & many many baby steps I have started running again, but now I have the support of my lovely husband to be(next year will certainly be busy, a marathon & a wedding lol) we have formed a team to attempt to raise even more money for this amazing charity, Andy himself only started running last year thinking at one point he may never walk again after a car crash followed by bike crash which left him with a knee in 11 pieces & smashed tibia & fibia which resulted in many operations over 6 years, so the fact he is attempting this is absolutely amazing. Please, if you can, we know times are tough, but even a small amount will help this amazing charity.
This is for you Dad
