Story
In January, my friend Benjamin and I are travelling to Mumbai to volunteer for OSCAR International. OSCAR International and The OSCAR Foundation in Mumbai work together to create a world which enables underprivileged boys and girls living in the slums of India to become role models within their communities. OSCAR uses the power of football to teach the importance of education, transforming disadvantaged communities and providing the tools young people need to fight poverty for the next generation. All funds raised will help provide access to digital learning centres which will help OSCAR to achieve their goal. The cost of a brand new computer for the Community Learning Centres in Ambedkar Nagar and Chembur is £550. The centres are badly in need of more computers and will provide 10 hours of access to online education for up to 10 boys and girls. We are aiming to provide two of these computers each - a goal which will hugely benefit the education of the boys and girls.
The cost of equipping one child with football equipment is £22, including boots, shin pads, and kit, so each donation to this cause would make a very visible impact. There are 7000 children at OSCAR, and we aim to equip as many as possible, so any donations will be very gratefully received
Thank you for donating!
Edit: The 3 peaks challenge has now been completed in under 6 hours, due to running part of it as daylight hours had decreased, making the 35 kilometre hike much more challenging than originally intended. The OSCAR kids would be grateful for any further donations!
