Story
In November 2017, Ethan lost his Mum Gemma suddenly - very suddenly to Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Ethan was only eight at the time.
Like so many children who lose a parent or a loved one in the UK every year, Ethan’s world was shattered.
- An estimated 46,300 dependent children (aged 0-17) are bereaved of a parent each year. That’s 127 children newly bereaved each day.
- 1 in 29 five to sixteen-year-olds has been bereaved of a parent or sibling - that's a child in every average class.
Over the last few years Ethan has received counselling and support from this incredible organisation Grief Encounter. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that part of the reason Ethan is now a thriving teenager has been down to the support of these wonderful people.
So on Sunday 17th March, for the third time, Ethan along with his mates Ed and Josh will be joining the Grief Encounter Forget-Me-Not Walk, in memory of his Mum and to raise vital funds for Grief Encounter so that they can continue to support other bereaved children, young people and their families.
In terms of the money Ethan, Ed and Josh raise, 100% of the funds will go towards supporting bereaved children and young people who have experienced the death of someone close, and those impacted by grief.
From the darkness of six years ago, Ethan’s life is shining and Grief Encounter have played a big part in this.
Ethan wants to help other bereaved young people to one day shine like him.
Thank you so much for your kind generosity.
