Story

On 20th July 2024 Sharon Dunford along with Daughters Jessica, Esther, Kat and Honorary Daughters Lucy and Sian will be walking 18 miles that starts and ends at Bristol Rovers and visits the homes of Bristol Flyers, Bristol Storm, Broad Plain Rugby Club, Bristol City and Gloucestershire CCC all in aid of The Derby Rimmer MND Foundation for the Stewarts Sports Tour.

The event is in support of Bristol's own footballing legend, Marcus Stewart, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2022.

On the 21st April 2024 it was with immense pleasure that the Dunford Family awarded’ The Geoff Dunford Special Achievement Award’ to ‘The Stewart Family’

Marcus Stewart a former player of Bristol Rovers was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2022 & with his amazing wife & family have tirelessly worked hard to raise awareness of this dreadful illness. Donations raised will go towards finding any advancement in treatment and supporting others who are suffering with MND.

As it will be the day after Sharon's 67th Birthday no presents just donations please…. Please give whatever you can for this amazing cause.

About the charity

Former Liverpool, Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers footballer Stephen Darby and close friend and British Forces Veteran Chris Rimmer have partnered together to launch the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Stephen and Chris both have Motor Neurone Disease and have created a Foundation to create awareness of MND, to fund and assist research into the illness with the quest of finding a cure for the illness, to raise funds and offer grants to those with MND, as well as creating a network to help provide information and emotional support network for those diagnosed with the disease.
