Hi I'm Erin Lockhart and as a Miss NI Finalist I want to raise awareness and donations for Women's Aid Armagh and Down, a local charity very close to my heart that is dedicated to providing vital support and resources to women and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse.

In support of the charity, I will be putting myself to a 5k a day in May challenge and will also be holding a Coffee Morning on Saturday the 11th of May.

By contributing to this cause you will be helping:

Provide trauma informed support services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

Deliver preventative education programmes in schools and community settings to promote healthy non-abusive relationships and share key safeguarding messages.

Engage with Women, children and young people, to give them a voice and ensure they inform all aspects of service development and delivery.

ANYONE can experience domestic abuse regardless of age, gender, race or religion but research clearly shows that the majority of victims are women and children, highlighting the gendered nature of the crime.

There were 1,272 rape offences recorded in NI in 2022/23, more than double the amount that was recorded ten years earlier.

There were 33,186 domestic abuse incidents recorded in 2021/2022.
