I turn 65 years old later this year. I have set myself the goal of doing this ride to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. I lost my father to cancer a few years ago, I lost a good friend and cycling buddy David “Berty” Birtwistle to cancer in Feb this year. My niece in her early 30's, and a few close friends are all currently fighting this desease. It is a massive motivation for me to raise money to fight this horrible disease. The route I'm taking is 1,018 miles in total with 57,500ft of climbing. My plan is to ride it in 14 consecutive days - average 73 miles per day. I will be riding solo for 95% of the ride with the odd friend joining me for certain sections. Big thanks to my lovely wife Jo who is driving my support vehicle. I know it’s a big ask in these difficult financial times but any amount no matter how small will be gratefully received.
