Story

Really nervous to share this..... Triple now....but I've entered the MacMillan Mighty Hike Marathon on Sat 14th Sept 2024 in Northumberland which has led to entering the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in 12 hrs on 21st Sept.... I didn't realise this was a marathon too..... and as a warm up I've kindly got a charity place for the Great North Run (I will be walking), on 8th Sept 2024.....!

It's 24th Aug & I'm adding a paragraph as actually feel really overwhelmed & humbled by everyone's stories, donations and shares, added the GNR & Yorkshire 3 Peaks, made it a triple and wondering if we can raise £1,848 for 2 weeks nurse support now..... I also am genuinely nervous if I can actually do any of these..... so THANK YOU for all your support. What I am doing feels like a drop in the ocean, but maybe it will help a tiny bit..... I will be taking every star above, and every friend with me in my thoughts, every step of the way. On 24th Sept I will be giving a talk at Mountain for Mind to a group of paramedics, which will complete the challenge..... perhaps with sunrise climb of Snowon on my own to fully complete it.

I've chosen this challenge in memory of some really special people, clients & the greatest of friends who have lost loved ones to cancer, especally over the last year, incredibly special golden souls. I know it can't change things or really help, but I'm hoping it may help it some tiny way and will take them with me in every step I take.... with the greatest of love, care and respect.

The Yorkshire 3 peaks is organised by Mountain for Mind, who would like £250 raised, so there is a little side page for this in memory of Jenny for some people and the amazing work they do - https://www.justgiving.com/page/kimjennyjoy, specifically on her Memory day 4th Sept & 10th Sept for Suicide Awareness Day, otherwise MacMillan is the priority this year, lets get to £2k Team:-)

I've chosen this challenge in memory of some really special people, clients & the greatest of friends who have lost loved ones to cancer, especally over the last year, incredibly special golden souls.

So Thank Youuuuuu to all the donations so far.... i can't tell you how much it means, overcoming many fears and managing lots, I hope it helps you following the journey....

My prep stages will be Saturn Running 10km walk/jog, Stylist Big Trek 22km 20th July, open water Aquathlon BIG test on 25th July & 4th Aug if body and brain ok, Spartan Beast Half Marathon & obstacles, very scared for this one on 11th August.... then long walks and climbs until 14th Sept.... I may add another half marathon around 24th or 30th Aug, tbc.... updates weekly below,

In a previous life chapter I ran marathons for fun...however the most recent life chapter has involved a lot of medical things, meaning I have just managed to be able to do around 10km of walking on a good day after 2.5yrs of rehab.

There is no guarantee I will reach 26.2 miles, or even 3 miles, it depends on the day & how my lymph, vascular & neurology fairs. Some days it's great, and others I don't move at all - so if I don't complete and you have donated, I will make it happen some time..... I also plan to do some parkruns, a half marathon walk, climb some hills, and other little challenges along the way,

However, i realised I was living too safetly, scared of what may happen. We only get one life, I would rather live it wholeheartedly every day than half heartedely for a long time... Northumberland is a place I have fallen in love with, it's wide expanse of beaches and golden skyline, many hours have been walked making sense of life, so it seemed the best place to do this challenge,

So whilst anything isn't possible, something is..... so i have entered, and will keep you posted on my journey from training to medical...

If the journey helps raise money, give hope & possibilities to even one person, it will be worth it. I have pledged to raise £924 or maybe we can £1,848 for two weeks, this would be amazing.... & I have a crazy idea that if we reach £9k it gives 9 weeks of nurse home support which is invaluable & hits by little business £100k of fundraising in 21 years.... I mean who knows). Times are challenging, so any support, a message, share, £1 is truly appreciated and valued,

Each training walk and strength session, each medical test I will have the thoughts of those I truly care about in my heart & soul, and all those affected by cancer, for what a ride it is....

If I can help or support you in anyway do reach out, comment, share & know, however dark the moments seem, the brightest stars shine in the darkest nights,

To brave lifes, resilience, joy & golden moments,

With all my energised support & thanks

Kim
