Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February this year my beautiful niece Megan got the devastating news that she had oral cancer. On 5th March she had 10 hours of surgery to remove part of her tongue and lymph nodes in her neck. Next they took a graft of skin from her forearm and used it to reconstruct her tongue.
She’s spent nearly 5 weeks in hospital and her outpatient appointments will start later in April on Ward 27 - the teenage ward at Leicester Royal Infirmary. So as I’m attempting to cover 100 miles in May she’ll be undergoing 6 weeks of combined chemo and radiotherapy.
Even though her surgery took place in Northampton the Teeange Cancer team at LRI have been incredibly supportive, and been there for help and guidance since her diagnosis.
I’m a lapsed runner so 100 miles in May is going to be a challenge, but it’s nothing compared to what Megan’s been through.
Thanks to the teams at Northampton and LRI her future is bright, and we are immensely proud of her and will be by her side as she continues to fight this terrible disease.
