Story
In 1994-95 my parents did a year of service together in Chicago, IL through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. My mom worked as a nurse at a clinic for the unhoused and my dad worked as a teacher at an alternative high school. Exactly 30 years later, I am following in their footsteps!
Starting in August of this year, I will be serving as Hygiene Services Coordinator at the Harry Tompson Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Harry Tompson Center provides unhoused individuals with access to hospitality, hygiene, and health and housing services. During the placement process, I was immediately drawn to their values of community, compassion, and care for the whole person. I am so excited to be able to use both my degree in Sociology and my passion for social justice to serve vulnerable communities in New Orleans.
A donation to this fundraiser would directly support me during my volunteer year while helping JVC placement sites sustain their JV positions.
Thank you for your support!
