Story
Throughout 2024 I am walking/running/swimming/cycling hundreds of miles for myeloma!
My husband, Nick, was diagnosed with this cancer in November 2023. It came out of the blue and it’s a very rare cancer. I want to raise awareness of the disease and raise vital funds to help with research.
The cancer has now progressed and Nick started treatment in May 2024. The treatment consists of 4 months of chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant and more chemo to hopefully force the cancer into remission for a time period - we hope for at least two years.
This cancer has no cure. It can be treated and it has an average 7 year life expectancy with treatment.
Treatments are improving all the time and finding better and better treatments and perhaps one day a cure, relies on hard cash. I want to raise £10k by the end of the year.
That’s 10% of Myeloma UK’s £100k target which shows just how much difference YOUR donation will make.
Each quarter I will complete a different challenge.
In March 2024, I walked 10 miles a day at my health club and outdoors.
In June 2024 - I swam 50 lengths a day at my health club.
September 2024 - I will be rowing 10,000 metres a day at my health club.
In December I will complete a series of shorter challenges throughout the month.
