Help all kids experience the Minikani Spirit

Story

At Camp, we talk a lot about the Minikani Spirit. It's not quite something you can describe with words, but it's certainly something you can feel.

Camp gives kids the ability to express themselves through different outlets. Minikani offers crafts, water and climbing activities, horseback riding, the improvement of wilderness survival skills, and sports. My personal favorite is games and ranges (GNR). This skill area has brought me some of my closest friends and has a regular, niche following of kids that I have come to know. As someone who skipped a year of camp, GNR was the start of my camp family and it brings the same experience to campers.

My camp family continued to grow when I was a Trailblazer (GU) camper. The unit took me in and helped me grow as I remember setting goals with my counselor and getting rewarded with an accolade for my growth. I continue fostering this growth within my campers by setting goals at the beginning of each week and challenging them to try new things while at camp.

The final unit that contributed to the growth of my camp family is the Explorer Unit. This is a unique unit in that it is a combination of genders on the hill and it only has six cabins. This allows you the opportunity to know all 48 campers and the 6 counselors. I have met some lifelong friends on the hill, seven of the people I was once a camper with are now on staff with me. I am lucky enough to now be a part of the six counselors that have the opportunity to foster these relationships within the Explorer Unit.

Camp Minikani is a second home to me and I want to create that safe environment for my campers. Campers also have the opportunity to develop and put into practice valuable skills, such as emotional regulation, creative problem solving, and conflict resolution. Our campers connect with kids who are new and different from them.

Each year, Camp Minikani is filled with laughter, discovery, and life-changing experiences. By donating to my page, you give all children in our community the opportunity to experience that Minikani Spirit. Let's come together for Camp for All!
