Story
Thank you for visiting our page in memory of our beloved Dad, husband and Grandad.
Dad as most of you will know was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic syndromes - a rare form of blood cancer) and despite having had a very active lifestyle; sailing, fishing, shooting, Friday nights down the local and Wednesday night snooker with the boys, it had started to slow him down a little and despite regular blood transfusions, he was lacking energy to do the things he so loved. He went into hospital where he was fortunate enough to be given a stem cell transplant (thanks to Kristie being a match!) Despite all of this, Dad developed an infection which sadly spread to his kidneys and heart and though Dad has always been a fighter, this was one fight he could not win. He fought until the very end with us all at his bedside, listening to his favourite songs by Dire Straits and Pink Floyd. There could not have been more love in that room.
Dad has always put us and his grandchildren first and the memories we hold as a family are priceless and ones that we will hold forever in our hearts. His love was infectious and radiant. You could feel it as soon as you walked into a room. I hope he left this world knowing he was everything to us. That his love has carried us through this life. He literally thought that his children and grandchildren were God’s gift to earth but I don't think he knew that he was God’s gift to us.
Since his cancer diagnosis, it was Dad’s wish to help children going through this heartbreaking disease. Ben Pavitt, was an incredibly talented young man who we were fortunate to know. He was taken far too soon from this world at the age of 16 by this cruel disease and our family have always supported the charity that his lovely family set up in Ben’s honour. It is only apt now that we support Ben Pavitt’s Legacy of Love Fund so we are asking that any memorial tributes be made in the form of donations rather than flowers.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of Dad’s story, and for donating in memory of our amazingly brave and courageous Dad. We love you Dad forever and always ❤️
