Story

This September i’m taking on the challenge of a 250 km multi day ultra with >6,900m elevation in Pembrokeshire as part of the Why We Run 3.0 team to raise money for Bigmoose Charity.

Bigmoose are on a mission to support people through therapy and early intervention. There is currently a > 36 week waiting list to get mental health therapy in Wales, Bigmoose provides access to therapy within a week. When people need help, they need it quickly.

I’d be so very grateful for anything you can spare to donate to help this wonderful cause, I’d love to smash the goal! Whether pennies, pounds or just helping to spread the word, your support means so much towards the wider goal of £25,000 for this event! 🧡🧡🧡

If you can’t spare anything monetary I’d be grateful for a share of this page or any song suggestions to help me on my way this September!! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

For more about my why:

As soon as I heard about this run, I knew I wanted this to be my first step into bigger ultras. A chance to challenge myself for a cause that means a lot. When the letter of acceptance from the ballot came through the post it was like receiving a letter from Hogwarts (lame I know) , except rather than learning spells and magic, my magic was going on an adventure with an incredible group of people with the same aim, stepping up to the longer distance challenges and raising money for a fantastic cause, to help others understand themselves and hopefully take steps to find their own magic.

I’m sure those who know me well will know I haven’t had the best time mentally - from a young age I’ve battled depression, bullying and eating disorders, but weirdly I’m glad…because it’s made me who I am today! Someone who is brave, caring and understanding. But it’s a taken a lot to look at it positively, and I certainly wouldn’t look at it that way without the support I’ve had. Not everyone has as supportive friends, family and partners, and not everyone has access to funds or work perks for external support. This is why Bigmoose is so so so important, helping others to have access to life changing and often lifesaving support.

Much like getting out for a run on a wild rainy day, the first step of acknowledging you need help is by far the hardest. To step out of your own space and ask for help, but to be met with a long waitlist is horrifying, and it far too often makes people retreat or worse. It’s frustrating and far too often too late. In raising funds and awareness for Bigmoose we’re getting help for the people that need it fast.

🧡🧡🧡
