Story

What am I doing?

I will be running the Big Half Marathon 2023 on 3 Sept - which will be a first for me (and very probably a last). By my calculations, doing that plus the 10 mile Great South Run (15 Oct) and a Parkrun (28 Oct) will mean that I will pretty much have run a marathon by the end of October.

Why am I fundraising?

Fundraising will hopefully give me the motivation I need to finish these runs. The Great South Run takes place at the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week and close to a 14th birthday that I would dearly love to be celebrating. Unfortunately, we have never managed any celebrations for my friend's daughter, Molly Mae, because she was stillborn.

What does the charity do?

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

If you can afford to give anything to this excellent charity, I know it would be gratefully received. #TeamSands
