Story
Two years ago I lost my partner Craig Valentine. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in our flat in Glasgow on April 11th 2022.
Craig had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, a condition which causes the muscular wall of the heart to become thickened. This can make it harder for the heart to pump blood around your body. There is also the risk of developing a life-threatening abnormal heart rhythm, which can cause cardiac arrest and sudden death.
Craig was funny, kind, loving and so incredibly clever. He was the sort of person who could get enthusiastic about anything and I loved when he used to say there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure. I feel so grateful to have known and loved him.
I am going to walk 14 miles from Milngavie to Gartocharn and more specifically to “The Dumpling” hill which Craig and I had a great day wandering up in the summer of 2020. I’m walking to raise money for The Institute of Cardiovascular Research who bring researchers from different fields in heart medicine together with patients to find clinical and preventative solutions. If you can spare anything to help ensure patients get the best treatment possible for conditions like HCM it would be so greatly appreciated.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
