The CarneySweeney team are embarking on a Walkathon for the month of September! Our goal is to walk the equivalent distance of traveling to all CarneySweeney offices, starting and finishing at Prior’s Court, and of course raise as much money as possible for our chosen charity, Priors Court Foundation. Prior’s Court is a haven for vulnerable young people in society, who require a specialist environment and one-to-one care every day, to manage their complex autism. The young people are predominantly unable to communicate their wants, needs and emotions with many experiencing extreme anxiety which psychologically and physically impacts their quality of life. Life is exceptionally difficult, and the young people are often unable to experience things that most people take for granted such as popping to the shop or going to a local park.

The charity is close to the heart of one of the Directors at Carney Sweeney, who has a child that lives at Priors Court. Every single family of Priors Courts residents have been through a tough journey, and had to make difficult decisions when it becomes clear that it is no longer possible for their child to safely live at home. The family environment created at Priors Court is made up of an extraordinary group of staff who give hope and support to both the families and young people who live there.

Places at Priors Court are Government funded but the money will only go so far. What this doesn’t cover is specialist equipment, which relies on charitable donations. Through these, Priors Court is able to provide benefits such as a sensory swimming pool, fun days out, tailored facilities designed with autism in mind, an onsite Countryside Learning Centre, a bakery to learn work skills and opportunities to have extraordinary experiences. Every penny that is donated will make a positive impact on the lives of these young people and allow them to reach their true potential.
