Story
In honour of my Dad, Paul John Curry who sadly lost his battle to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis on Sunday 18th February 2024 at 12:58pm in Teesside Hospice, Paul's family and friends will be taking part in a fundraising event called the Midnight Memory Walk.
The Midnight Memory walk is an annual fundraising event organised by Teesside Hospice, "for those we loved and lost." The walk is 11km which approximately takes up to 2 hours and 30 minutes, starting from Redcar and Cleveland, walking along the coast to Maske and back. We will be doing this in remembrance of my Dad and to help raise money for Teesside Hospice.
About Teesside Hospice:
Teesside Hospice support people and families who've been affected by a terminal illness. They help to make the most of everyday, ensuring the best possible care by creating experiences and memories that last a lifetime. Teesside Hospice are there to support people physically, mentally and emotionally, helping individuals to stay as independent as possible, for as long as possible.
They bring people together. From patients, family and friends to clinical team, counsellors, staff, volunteers and fundraises, they make sure everyone gets to live well until the very end. They are also founded by local people and will always be here for local people. They understand their lives, the community and culture and offer a high personalised level of care which I can hand on heart fully agree.
"The people that we care for are at the heart of everything we do."
How your donation can help:
Did you know each year it costs £3.2 million to support over 3000 people across Teesside? With NHS funding covering around a third of this, the rest of the work is funded by individuals, organisations, businesses and foundations. Teesside Hospice need to raise £5,600 each and everyday to keep their service running. £10 could pay for a creative therapy session, £25 could pay for a visit from our nurse to a patient, in the comfort of their own home, £40 could pay for a calming relaxation session and £100 could keep Teesside Hospice warm and cosy for a day.
All of Teesside Hospice's services are free of charge to patients, their families and carers and that's why we would like to raise money for Teesside Hospice. All donations, big and small are very much appreciated and will make a HUGE difference to a patients and families life.
