Lucas has Craniosynostosis, a 'rare' condition affecting approximately 1 in 2500 live births, where the sutures of his skull have fused too early, which impact his head shape and brain growth.

When Lucas is around 18 months of age, he will undergo major surgery at Alder Hey Children's Hospital to reconstruct the shape of his skull, in order for his brain to grow correctly and lower the risk of other complications later on in his childhood and into later life.

Therefore, over the next 12 months, myself, Jordan, family and friends have pledged to raise money for Alder Hey Children's Charity in order to spread awareness of Craniosynostosis and raise money to support the amazing work that Alder Hey do.

Alder Hey is a specialist craniofacial children's hospital, where Lucas will continue to be monitored until he becomes an adult. The surgery at 18 months old will include the removal of his skull, which will then be re-shapen and reattached in order to give his brain the sufficient space it needs to grow. The hospital is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and the care that they provide to their patients is second to none - which is why we have chosen to fundraise over the next year to help in any way we can!

Please feel free to share this post, or comment with any fundraising ideas you can think of or get involved in if you wish!
