RACE UPDATE:
We only went and smashed it!! Third place out of 20 teams and the best placed all female team! What a fantastic result for the Boating Belles. Thank you for all your donations so far. Let’s try and get to 10 beds / £1500 for this fantastic cause…
For the second year running Baildon Belles are paddling to raise funds for Zarach.
Event: Bradford Dragon Boat Festival, Roberts Park, Saltaire on Sunday 2nd July 2023

Our Story
On Sunday 2nd July 2023 at the Bradford Dragon Boat Festival in Saltaire the Boating Belles, 20 women from Baildon Belles WI will be racing in The Multi Charity Championships, raising much needed funds for our charity of the year, Zarach.
Zarach was founded by Bex Wilson, a Deputy Head Teacher who became aware of the heartbreaking situation some of her pupils found themselves in: tired and unhappy at school because they have no bed at home. The charity works to deliver beds and basics to children in poverty, and to help families in crisis rise up from surviving to thriving so children can eat, sleep and learn.
They partner with schools with the aim of giving every head a bed, and supporting families to make every house a home. Many children are going to sleep hungry and cold without a proper bed of their own. Poverty is a real problem that has a significant effect on a child’s education. By providing something to eat and a good night’s sleep, we hope to give every child an equal chance to learn and succeed at school. You can help children living in poverty. Together, we can meet their basic needs, give them a good night’s sleep and an equal opportunity at school. If we don’t act now, these children will remain cold, hungry and tired. We can make a difference.We are delighted to be raising funds for Zarach, and working with them to help raise awareness of their cause.
Our Dragon Boat Race Team have been training hard, giving up their free time and bearing the sore muscles in the hope that their efforts will boost our fundraising total, and increase our donation to Zarach. We really hope that you’ll support us by making a donation, if you can, no matter how much. We understand that it's a difficult time for many, so we're grateful for every penny, and we’re hopeful too that you’ll come along and support the team by cheering them on!
