Story
As some of our friends and family know, TJs much loved Grandad is now on end-of-life care due to a progressive disease. Watching him deteriorate and have his life taken from him has been truly devastating. I really couldn't have wished for a better Grandad for TJ, all the fun and laughter they shared as TJ has grown up. We are all heartbroken he's now facing this pain and suffering.
Diagnosed less than 2 years ago, and now at only 71 years young, he's been left trapped in a failing body.
The 14th of September is also Grandma and Grandad's 50th wedding anniversary, so we're taking on the Thames Bridges 25km Trek Ultra Challenge 2024 to celebrate the day.
We'd be very grateful for any support you can give to help us raise money for this worthy cause.
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, leading to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how one walks, talks, eats, drinks, and breathes. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time or in any specific order.
Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life. We need your support.
£160 could fund a specialist communication app for a tablet/smartphone/laptop to enable a person with MND to continue to communicate with loved ones.
£280 could fund the co-ordination of care for a person with MND at a care centre for a year.
£1000 could pay for detailed analysis of the DNA of someone with MND to help us better understand the causes of the disease.
