Story
As lots of you know already, I work for the brilliant mental health charity Leeds Mind. It's an organisation that helped me when I was unwell, has a positive impact on my mental health on a daily basis and supports over 4,000 people per year through a huge range of projects. As a team leader I get to see the impact the work of our brilliant staff has on people at their lowest moments and raising money helps us to reach more people.
This June a group of staff (plus some family members) have challenged ourselves to complete the Total Warrior course in order to raise as much money as we can.
We are staff members from a variety of projects who have our own challenges and mental health difficulties when it comes to doing this: age; weight; fitness levels; fear of failure; identity; how we look when exercising; anxiety; body image. Our plan is to support each other to complete the course with understanding, kindness and a lack of judgement.
Total warrior is essentially a 12km assault course, so personally it's going to be a big old challenge :-)
1 in 4 people experience mental health difficulties in their lives. Whether that be depression, anxiety, isolation, stress, self harm, personality disorder, bereavement or any other negative mental health experience, Leeds Mind are here for you.
