Story
Erin’s Family and friends are planning on taking part in multiple fundraising activities organised by WUTH Charity and events organised by ourselves.
Our next fundraising event is on the abseil down Arrowe parks main hospital on Friday 17th May 2024
Erin was a micro premature baby, born at 25 weeks with very little warning after an uncomplicated short pregnancy. Erin is the youngest of three & previous pregnancies had no complications. Mum Emily became extremely unwell, which resulted in two ITU admissions which unfortunately meant Erin had to delivered and mum had serious health complications following Erin’s birth. Erin was born breathing but required ventilation and other life preserving saving treatments were performed and medicine administered. Erin remained on breathing support for a total of 95 days. As her family we were told that due to Erin being extremely premature the future at that point was unknown and therefore to take it day by day.
Erin spent 98 days in total, and was discharged two days before her due date. Erin is currently home and doing very well at the present, weight gain is slow but going in the right direction. Erin has chronic lung disease , a PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus) which she has received treatment for, a heart murmur, and a IVH (Intraventricular hemorrhage) grade 2. Despite these conditions she is up against she continues to thrive
The Neonatal unit is not only cared for Erin but they also supported us as a family. The least we can do to extend our thanks and fundraise towards the refurbishment and expansion of the Neonatal Unit that is needed to care for more babies like Erin.
Thank you for your support
Last year almost 400 babies were born needing extra help in the first few days and weeks of their lives from the Neonatal Unit at Wirral Women and Childrens Hospital, Arrowe Park.
WUTH Charity needs to raise £1million to extensively refurbish the Neonatal Unit and we want to help! The money we raise will help to fund the refurbishment to the Neonatal Unit including world class medical equipment and enhanced parent facilities. We want to help raise the funds needed to provide the best possible Neonatal Unit for the babies and their families.
thank you
