Story

The pain of a childhood cancer diagnosis is indescribable - emotional support is vital from diagnosis to remission and every hurdle in between.

Emily’s Gift is an Appeal, under the umbrella of The Pied Piper Appeal that launched on March 10th 2023, founded by Julie Kent MBE. Her mission was to raise £500,000 by 10 March 2024 to fund the employment of a psychologist for 10 years to ensure all children and their families receive psychological support while their child has cancer treatment at the Emily Kent Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and when they are in remission. And she did it!

The psychologist has now started but we need to continue to raise funds to give children with cancer and their families more facilities or treats to make this difficult lifestyle more manageable.

We are now raising money to fund a 'Blood Sampling Machine' for the EKU enabling their blood to be tested in 45 seconds rather than wait for hours on the unit along with funding holidays for families once the children have gone into remission.

'No child should ever experience cancer. Your generosity will help us to provide professional emotional support for children and their families to help them cope with the trauma. 100% of your donation goes to the Emily’s Gift cause.'
