Story
On the 9th of July I’m doing a skydive along with some other brave parents to raise money for Leo’s!
As some of you may already know, my son Patrick was born at 36 weeks via emergency c-section due to IUGR (intrauterine growth restrictions). He was 4lb 14oz and we spent two weeks in hospital whilst he was cared for by the neonatal team.
Whilst two weeks is a drop in the ocean in comparison to the experience some families have, this start to motherhood had a detrimental impact on my mental health.
Luckily, a district nurse realised I wasn’t doing too well at home and referred me to a charity called Leo’s. They look after families of babies who have been in neonatal care.
The lovely Katie from Leo’s arranged counselling sessions for me and still contacts me once a month as part of their peer support programme. Patrick and I are also able to attend some of their play sessions and get to meet other families with stories like ours.
I couldn’t have been the mam I so desperately wanted to be without Leo’s. They have supported me on my recent return back to work and continue to be there for Paddy and I. I really want to be able to help other families just like ours. Any donation big or small is greatly appreciated ❤️
**Please note some of the funds raised may be used to fund the skydives, the remainder will be reinvested into the families we support!**
