On Sunday 14th July, myself (Emily) and my brother (Jack) are doing a 15,000ft Tandem Skydive to raise money for Tŷ Olwen Hospice. We have chosen this charity as it is close to both our hearts and all those around us. Ty Olwen cares for patients and families with an advanced incurable disease, and consists of an inpatient unit and community teams. Ty Olwen rely heavily on donations to keep the unit running and need to raise at least £500,000 a year. As a huge thank you for everything they’ve do and all the hard work that is put in by staff, volunteers, trustees, paramedics and hospital team, we’d like to raise as much as possible for them, so every bit of support is appreciated hugely.

We have both been involved in many fund raising events for Ty Olwen and we see first hand the amount of compassion that is delivered into the unit. Our mother is the ward manager, Karren Roberts and she is an inspiration to the both of us. We have been around Ty Olwen nearly all our lives and it holds a very special place in both our hearts, we both have gone on to work and study for the NHS due to the passion and empathy we have seen growing up surrounding patient care.  

Jack has previously done a skydive for Ty Olwen in 2016, but it is one of my worst fears that I hope to overcome alongside fundraising.

Just giving allows for Gift Aid addition, which is a tax relief allowing UK charities to reclaim an extra 25% in tax on every eligible donation made by a UK taxpayer. We’re hoping to raise £1,000 for this incredible unit.
