Story

This September will be 10 years since our family lost ‘our anchor’, the person who brought us 4 girls into this world, nurtured, grounded, loved and adored us all.  Mum ‘Nonni’, as she liked to be known to the grandchildren, was always up for fun, a cheeky glass of vino and some sunshine and she loved being surrounded and hanging out with us all - she was the centre of our world.

Mum fought the bravest most hideous battle against an evil, quiet & rare Ovarian cancer with huge determination, strength & selflessness. It was not an easy fight that she ended up devastatingly loosing after 16 months.

Despite it being ten years, each year marks another birthday missed, a Mother’s Day, another Christmas (her favourite time of year), Easter, anniversary, wedding, christening without the head of our family. Time moves on and sadly you grow to live with the grief and the void, it still feels like it could have been yesterday, but what truly amazing memories she gave us to hold and to cherish always………….weekly family Sunday roasts, afternoon tea by a log fire, dog walks in the countryside, happy family holidays, shopping trips, cups of tea in bed, hugs, adventures, advice, chats, laughter and all round fun together!

On September the 17th our family will be walking 24 miles along the ‘Clarendon Way’ walk from Winchester to Salisbury (our family home town) to raise money for the ‘Salisbury Hospice’ and ‘The Eve Appeal’.

During mums final few days in the ‘Salisbury Hospice’ she was lovingly and sensitively cared for with such kindness and respect that it made an indescribable time more bearable. We will be forever grateful for the team of doctors, nurses and volunteers there.

‘The Eve Appeal’ are another incredible charity who fund research and raise awareness into the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal. They are working towards a future where gynaecological cancers are a disease of the past.

We would HUGELY appreciate you support in our challenge and of course all monies raised go to both of these incredible charities. The grandchildren and son in laws will also be completing some of the journey, during which we will laugh, chat and smile about mum every step of the way………..she wouldn’t want to miss out so she’ll be at our sides in spirit!

Thank you

With love Ems, Rose, Becks and Georgia xxxx
