Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have always had a passion for animals, working as a veterinary nurse for the past 5 years has only expanded that passion. In particular, dogs have been a big part of my life and I know first-hand just how important they can be to people, as pets and as assistance dogs. I wanted to challenge myself to help raise funds to help people who need an assistance dog.
The Challenge
The London Marathon. 26.2 miles. The furthest I will have ever run at one of the largest and most famous marathon events around the world. Having only starting my running journey in November of last year, I have steadily progressed from the local Parkrun, to a 10km and with the aim of completing my first half marathon in October. This progression led me to want to tackle the marathon, which I’m both nervous and excited for!
The Charity
Dogs for Good are a not so well-known charity who deserve recognition for the work they do. As a charity, it is their aim to bring people and dogs together to provide the help that people need. At Dogs for Good, people are bought together with highly trained dogs to help them overcome specific challenges, to help adults and children lead independent lives, provide advice and to provide assistance dogs with specialist handlers to help within the community. One of the important things that Dogs for Good do is to ensure the health and happiness of all dogs, never compromising their welfare.
