Story

Hello Everyone 👋🏽

I have decided to sign up for a half Marathon this May & would love your support for my chosen charity Refuge.

I'm not usually one for a sponsored event, but a half marathon has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and I needed some accountability.

Since I changed my lifestyle many years ago I have tried so many new things I would have never dreamed of trying but running was always something which I just couldn't find the disapline for as it is so hard. So that's when my running journey started in 2023, I needed a challenge mentally and physically... on New Year's Day I spent a ridiculous amount on the ugliest trainers and started trying to run. I consistently ran until June 2023 and I actually started to progress and semi enjoy it. Then just before my official training block started for my Half Marathon I went on a costal run alone and fell, dislocating my finger pretty badly and spraining my ankle. (Pictures for those brave enough) after a two mile very panicked run back to Andy and a trip to A&E I struggled to accept I wouldn't be able to do the races I'd proposed to do. When we got back from A&E I was still telling Andy that in 5 days I was doing my 10k Race 😂 was defo the gas & air talking! Still never want to visit Pembrokeshire again!

So fast forward to now having had to sack off most of my running & weight training until about Oct last year and complete a large amount of physio, I needed a goal. In December the women's network I am part of at work shared they were looking for people to run Hackney Half for our chosen Charity Refuge... a charity which works to empower women to live without violance and fear. Refuge are the largest domestic abuse charity in the UK and also do a lot of activism work, challenging the government on their overall approach to violance against women, particular focus recently on the Met Police and my favourite campaign of theirs.. not just a bad apple. Not only have I got my half marathon in May which training has started for (avoiding all costal routes) I am also training for a Hyrox fitness competition in April just to make it a bit spicier for myself.

I would love your support if you are able to but if a monetary donation isn't possible that's absolutely fine ❤️

I will be keeping my just giving page updated with my progress going forward.

Thank you for reading and I hope the pictures provide you with a laugh.. or I hope this inspires you to realise anything is possible X
