Story
As most people know I am Type one diabetic I have been diagnosed for 24 years I have an insulin pump which I have been on for 17 years. I am now using a Dexcom G7 which makes life so much easier for checking blood sugar levels especially because it’s approved by the DVLA. In March I am participating in the 62 mile event Diabetes Uk have set up. The aim is to walk 62 miles raise £100 or more to give something back to such an amazing charity. Diabetes UK continues their efforts to raise awareness of diabetes and they continuously look at new ways to help people improve the management of their diabetes and living with Diabetes.
Over the past 24 years so much has changed with regard to people safely improve the way they manage their diabetes. Ultimately improving the quality of life, with so many different options now on the market for insulin pumps and CGM’s (continuous glucose monitors). After speaking with a few other type one diabetics they also agree life has got easier for them over the years with new technology coming out, still having the odd hiccup here and there which is to be expected because with diabetes insulin corrections, blood glucose levels, carb counting is not going to be 100% perfect all the time there will be minor hiccups along the way. Stress, weather, exercise will all effect blood sugar levels.
Diabetes is certainly on the rise whether it be type one or type two, my goal is to make people aware people living with type one diabetes can lead a normal life.
£100 could deliver 2 sessions to people and there families for more support. Your support means so much and will be greatly appreciate by all diabetics and their families in the UK.
