Fundraising for National Literacy Trust
At the National Literacy Trust, we are dedicated to fighting poverty through literacy.
There are now 4.3 million children living in poverty in the UK and 1 in 11 of those children don't own a single book. The cost-of-living crisis is growing the scale of this challenge massively. Some families are now struggling to afford food, let alone books.
That's why we need your help to continue our work boosting the literacy skills of children and young people living in the UK's most economically disadvantaged communities, giving them the best possible chance of success in work, school and life.
Literacy skills help children get to where they need to go in life. From first words and making friends, to filling in forms and applying for jobs, being able to communicate well is the key that unlocks a world of opportunities. I've worked for this organisation for almost two years now, and there's rarely a day I'm not blown away by the determination and expertise of the staff - each and every one of us wants to help however we can... even if that means running 13.1 miles through the middle of London.
Until 6th April 2025, I am going to be training for the London Landmark Half Marathon, with the goal of raising £350 for the National Literacy Trust. I'll also be crocheting some lovely goodies to help reach this target - think keyrings, stuffed animals, bunting, blankets and baby hats... you name it, I'll (attempt to) crochet it!
