Story
Join us on an epic journey of endurance, camaraderie, and a whole lot of uphill hiking! 🥾
On August 3rd, Team Carterwood, comprising Aish, Bianca, Daisy, Emmie, and Katy, will be embarking on an extraordinary 50km non-stop walking challenge along the picturesque South West Coast and across the rugged terrain of Exmoor. With over 1600 meters of climb ahead of us, it's the equivalent of scaling Ben Nevis, then climbing The Shard ⛰️
As we lace up our boots and gear up for this challenge, we're embracing the spirit of Carterwood - 'being brave' and living by the motto of 'never stand still'. And with those hills looming in the distance, there won't be much standing still for us! 😆
But before we conquer the trail, we're hitting the pavement together, training and building up our stamina one step at a time. From hill hikes to endurance walks, we're leaving no stone unturned (or should we say, no hill unclimbed?) in our quest to prepare for this adventure. So follow along with us as we sweat, laugh, and maybe even shed a tear or two during our training journey.
But why are we putting ourselves through this challenge, you may ask?
Well, besides the thrill of the adventure, we're doing it all for a very worth cause - Dementia UK. Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia, making it one of the most pressing health issues of our time. Families affected by dementia often find themselves lost in a sea of uncertainty and confusion, unsure of where to turn for help. That's where Dementia UK steps in, providing invaluable support through their Admiral Nurses. These dedicated professionals offer guidance, comfort, and expertise to families navigating the challenges of dementia, ensuring that no one ever feels alone in their journey.
So, as we trek across rugged landscapes and conquer steep inclines, we invite you to join us in supporting Dementia UK. Your donations will not only fuel our determination to conquer this challenge but will also make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
Thank you for your support!
