To help support Hayle Surf Lifesaving Cub I have set myself a challenge. I am planning to paddle a board to school in St Ives for two weeks. I'll be setting off from the club house at Hayle each morning at around 6:30/7am and paddling the 2 miles across the bay to Carbis Bay. I'll use the outdoor showers on the beach there to shower and get ready for school before heading up the hill. I'm not sure which will be more of a challenge - paddling the two miles each morning or taming my curly hair after the outdoor shower!

The ultimate aim of Hayle SLC is to teach young people how to be safe in the sea.

They also take teams all over the country to compete in surf lifesaving competitions which is something I really enjoy.

Hayle Surf Life Saving Club (HSLC) has been growing steadily, and with that growth comes the need for new equipment. Recently, the club purchased a double ski, and we are fundraising to help cover the cost along with the need for continuous upkeep of the club house.

HSLC has given me something to be passionate about, and along the way, I’ve been fortunate to make some great friendships. It's a fantastic community to be part of, and I want to give back by taking on this challenge.

Any support you can offer will go a long way in helping the club continue to thrive.

Obviously safety will be our priority and if I am unable to paddle on particular days I will extend the challenge until I have completed 10 days of paddling. A total of 20 miles of board paddling!
