Story
So, I'm turning 40 this year, I thought, "What better way to welcome this milestone than to hurl myself out of a plane?!" (this is a joke - there is obviously many other better ways to be celebrating your 40th. Like with bubbles and chocolate cake and your feet on the ground).
Clearly, I am terrified about doing this. I'm really not looking forward to doing it, and I wish hadn't signed up. I don't like falling and this feels ridiculous. But a friend said "what wouldn't you do, for your son and a cure" and so... here I am. Also, Sam's done it, and if Sam has done it then my pride says that perhaps it's something I can do too?
As always, I'm raising funds for Nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH) - because skydiving isn't something my boy is going to be able to do, I'm going to do it for both of us.
The Mikaere Foundation has been working to demystify NKH, supporting families grappling with its challenges and finding ways to give those with NKH a brighter future by funding research into an effective treatment.
So here we are. I'm going skydiving. Please donate generously! #SkydivingForNKH #KiwisCanFly
