In 2011, my sister and Ben’s girlfriend, Gaby faced the challenge of her life when she underwent life-saving brain surgery at The National Hospital at Queen Square. The hospital not only provided exceptional medical care but also unwavering support that has played a crucial role in her recovery.
Now more than a decade later, we are gearing up for a test of endurance - the London Marathon in April 2024 in aid of The National Brain Appeal, a charity that raises money for The National Hospital at Queen Square and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology in London.
But, the London Marathon alone isn’t enough. I will also be participating in the Ironman Barcelona (which consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a full marathon 26.2 mile run) in October 2024 in a bid to give back to the hospital and specialists that gave so much to Gaby.
The National Brain Appeal aims to transform the lives of the millions of people affected by neurological and neuromuscular conditions, including strokes, multiple sclerosis, brain cancer, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. It helps to drive advancement by funding pioneering research, innovative treatments and world-class facilities over and above what the NHS can provide.
Your donation will help The National Brain Appeal to improve the outcome and quality of life for the millions of people affected by a neurological condition. Every donation will make a significant difference.
