Story
On August 26th 2025 I will be taking part in a Bangor university challenge to climb Kilimanjaro to raise money for HFT.
Kilimanjaro stands at 5,895 meters tall (19,341ft) and doing this will be the greatest challenge that I've taken on. So I will need all the support I can get
I'm motivated to do Kilimanjaro as I was recently diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD and dyspraxia. Whilst I had always suspected I had something going on with me, these issues make life harder and cause me to underestimate myself as I would have to work twice as hard to achieve my academic goal due to misunderstanding the material. Kilimanjaro gives me the opportunity to prove to myself and to others what I can really do despite these difficulties, showing that I can do anything that I set my mind to.
Whilst I'm going up Kilimanjaro I will be raising money for the wonderful HFT who are a learning disability charity in England and Wales that provide services such as:
- Supported living: They help support people with learning disabilities to live independently by choosing where they live and giving them round the clock support.
- Supported employment - A programme to help individuals gain skills to gear them for employment.
HFT's mission is to change the lives of people with learning disabilities so that they and their families can live the best possible life.
So Know that your donation is helping support HFT and all it's wonderful staff so they can carry on doing what they do.
